Ancient Wonders

15 questions · History

Even in antiquity, travellers kept lists of the most impressive structures: which became ‘the seven wonders of the ancient world’: from the Great Pyramid and the Hanging Gardens to the Lighthouse of Alexandria. In this pack you recognise each ancient wonder from a picture and learn where it stood and what made it special. Since none but the Pyramid survives, the others are shown as historical reconstructions. At the end comes the ultimate challenge: naming all seven at once: which also works in time mode with voice input. The seven ancient wonders are the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Good to know: The oldest of the seven ancient wonders and the only one still standing today. Built around 2560 BC as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu. For over 3,800 years it was the tallest structure in the world. Terraced, lushly planted gardens said to have been built by King Nebuchadnezzar II for his wife. Whether they truly existed is disputed.
