Biblical Figures

12 questions · Religion & Belief

The Bible is full of unforgettable figures whose stories have been retold for thousands of years and have seeped deep into our language and culture: from the ark to the traitor's kiss. Some are seen as the forefathers of whole peoples, others as prophets, kings or sinners, and many of them are familiar even to those who have never read the Bible. This pack gathers the best-known biblical figures: recognise Jesus at the centre of Christianity, the lawgiver Moses, who led his people out of Egypt, and the patriarch Abraham, the first human Adam and Noah with his ark, King David, who defeated Goliath, and the wise King Solomon, Mary as the mother of Jesus and John the Baptist, the traitor Judas, the disciple Peter as the first pope and the apostle to the nations Paul: recognise them by their deeds and their stories, which have inspired half of world literature. Their names appear in sayings, paintings and films, and their tales of courage, guilt and forgiveness still move people today, whatever they believe.
