Flying & Marine Reptiles

7 questions · Nature

Not all prehistoric reptiles were dinosaurs: the skies belonged to the pterosaurs like Pteranodon and the giant Quetzalcoatlus, the seas to marine reptiles like Mosasaurus, Plesiosaurus and the dolphin-like Ichthyosaurus. This pack gathers the winged and the swimming relatives of the dinosaurs: plus the feathered ‘first bird’ Archaeopteryx, the link between dinosaurs and today's birds, as well as the long-necked Elasmosaurus among the marine reptiles. In this pack you see a picture of a prehistoric animal and name it. Every species comes with background: how big it was, what it ate, when it lived and the story behind it, including the popular myths from films like Jurassic Park. All images are public domain or freely licensed (life reconstructions from Wikimedia Commons). You'll learn to recognise pterosaurs, marine reptiles and the early birds and why, strictly speaking, they are not dinosaurs. Good to know: A feathered ‘first bird’ the size of a magpie: half dinosaur, half bird, with feathers but also teeth and a clawed hand.
