13 questions · Music

John Lennon from Liverpool co-founded the Beatles and, with Paul McCartney, was half of the legendary songwriting duo ‘Lennon/McCartney’. Besides the guitar, drawing was his second passion, as a teenager he attended an art college. After the Beatles ended he became famous as a solo artist and peace activist. Together with his wife Yoko Ono he even turned his hotel bed into a stage: at the ‘Bed-In’ for peace the couple received the press for days. Out of this stance came songs like ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ and his immortal anthem ‘Imagine’. In 1980 Lennon was shot dead outside his New York home. ‘Imagine’, with its vision of a world without borders or wars, still makes him a symbol of peace.
