Predatory Dinosaurs

11 questions · Nature

The predatory dinosaurs belong to the theropods: two-legged hunters with sharp teeth and claws. They range from the chicken-sized Compsognathus to the enormous Giganotosaurus and dominated their habitats as top predators from the Triassic to the Cretaceous. This pack gathers the most famous carnivores: T. rex and Allosaurus, the fish-eating Baryonyx, the nimble Deinonychus and the giant Utahraptor: plus the famous Velociraptor, the sail-backed Spinosaurus, the horned Carnotaurus and the early Dilophosaurus. In this pack you see a picture of a prehistoric animal and name it. Every species comes with background: how big it was, what it ate, when it lived and the story behind it, including the popular myths from films like Jurassic Park. All images are public domain or freely licensed (life reconstructions from Wikimedia Commons). You'll learn to tell the great ‘tyrants’ from the agile, often feathered ‘raptors’ and to spot the hunters' typical features. Good to know: Probably the most famous predator of all: up to 13 metres long, with a massive skull and banana-sized teeth. It lived at the end of the Cretaceous in what is now North America.
